Scope of works
We were appointed by the prime fit-out contractor to design, supply, and install a comprehensive blind package as part of a refurbishment project at a prominent banking headquarters in Glasgow city centre. Working to a tight programme from initial enquiry just before Christmas through to installation in February, the project required a responsive and well-coordinated approach to meet deadlines while maintaining quality.
The scheme covered a full floor of the building, with large floor-to-ceiling glazing across all elevations. Within the main canteen and café areas, we installed 31 commercial-grade roller blinds using a 3% screen fabric in a light grey finish. This provided effective glare reduction while maintaining natural daylight and outward visibility—creating a comfortable and functional breakout space for staff.
On the remaining elevations, a further 24 black-out roller blinds were required across five large meeting rooms. These were specified using FR-rated commercial blackout fabrics, ensuring privacy and full light control for presentations and video conferencing. In addition, we installed two fully blackout roller blinds within a dedicated training and recording studio on another floor, designed to provide a consistent, non-reflective backdrop when in use.

Installation
To suit the existing building structure, all blinds were installed onto coordinated back bars fixed to pre-existing steel framework above the glazing. This approach provided greater flexibility during installation, allowing precise positioning while improving efficiency on site, with blind brackets clipping directly into the system.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with Quantity Surveyors during the scoping and specification phase, ensuring alignment on budget and product selection, before coordinating with Site Managers during installation to integrate smoothly with other trades operating on site. Both survey and installation phases were carried out in live environments alongside ongoing fit-out works, requiring careful planning and adaptability.
Our scope included a full site survey, detailed specification, and a clear, tailored quotation supported by comprehensive blind specification documentation. Installation was completed efficiently over two days, in line with the overall project programme.
Outcome
All works were delivered in accordance with site-specific health & safety requirements, with full RAMS provided in advance. Upon completion, we supplied a comprehensive O&M manual as part of the handover process.
The finished installation provides effective glare reduction, enhanced privacy, and improved usability across a range of working environments—supporting both day-to-day operations and more specialised requirements such as meeting spaces and recording areas.
