We were appointed to design and install a set of custom motorised cellular blinds within a modern residential property in Wickersley. The project centred around a feature gable-end window, incorporating expansive glazing designed to maximise natural light while creating a strong architectural focal point within the master bedroom.
The installation comprised four cellular blinds, with the upper two individually shaped to follow the angled lines of the gable, and the lower two finished in a standard rectangular format. This combination allowed for a consistent, symmetrical appearance while addressing the practical challenges of the window design.
All blinds were powered by mains-operated Somfy motors, providing smooth, reliable operation across both shaped and standard units. Control was delivered via handheld remote as well as a Somfy TaHoma smart system, enabling operation through mobile devices and smart home integration—adding convenience and flexibility to everyday use.
To further enhance light control within the space, the installation was complemented by two additional motorised skylight blinds, creating a cohesive shading solution across all glazing elements. This ensured full control over light levels and privacy, particularly important within a bedroom setting.
The result is a clean, contemporary installation that works in harmony with the architectural design of the space—providing effective shading without detracting from the impact of the glazing. This project demonstrates the versatility of made-to-measure, motorised blind systems, particularly when applied to more complex or non-standard window designs.
